Monkeypox cases are rising across the globe as U.S. lawmakers are putting pressure on the Biden administration to put federal funding toward fighting the virus. Dr. Phyllis Kanki, professor of immunology and infectious diseases at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, joined Sue O’Connell to discuss what the COVID pandemic taught us that might help combat Monkeypox more efficiently.
Drag queen targeted by neo-Nazis pledges to keep ‘making the right people mad’
The Drag Queen Story hour in Jamaica Plain met with hate over the weekend when neo-Nazi group NSC-131 targeted the event, protesting outside its doors. This is just the latest in a series of white supremacist demonstrations here in Massachusetts. The host of the story hour, Patty Bourrée, shared with Sue how she is refusing to let hate win. Reverend Irene Monroe, co-host of GBH’s ‘All Rev’d Up’ podcast, also shared with Sue how we can embrace love as these instances of hate rock communities.
