A neat li'l jam based on the model:cycles with the minilogue xd to add some nice analogue bass. Slightly better recording than usual cause I managed to get some natural light, but still phone camera being phone camera lol. Also, I was using speakers I'm not really used to at all so there were some levels issues here and there.
The Model:Cycles is the brain of this jam, it's sequencing both its internal voices and the minilogue xd is being sequenced through track 5. I don't normally use Cycles for external sequencing, this pattern was originally entirely in the Cycles but I thought the bass might be better from an analogue synth and I think it turned out nicely.
A couple of random notes:
- Tracks 3 and 4 of the model:cycles are very similar patches with some randomisation, with 3 panned hard left and 4 panned hard right. Idk if this exact thing is something I'd use but it's a neat trick to add some stereo width I guess.
- Track 6 is the little beep boopy sound, and through this jam, I often lower the chance value so it just makes random little blips, which is a pretty cool effect.
- Another model:cycles trick: at around 4:55 you can see me press track + fill to toggle a fill on, which in this case I've used to add a 4ttf kick and get rid of some of the off-beat kicks.
- idk why I didn't explore turning off punch for longer at 4:31 cause it sounded really cool smh
- also at 6:49 I was looking for an octave setting on the Minilogue's chord mode but then I realised that it doesn't have one, I was thinking of the Model:Cycle's chord mode lol.
