CHRIS TUCKER CHOOSES PERSONAL AND RELIGIOUS REASONS OVER $10m - $12m…
I’m pretty sure we all know Chris Tucker. The famous actor and comedian, basically a Hollywood legend, who debuted as a stand-up performer and has now starred in movies like “Rush Hour” and its sequels, “Friday”, “Money Talks”, “Dead Presidents”, and a lot more.
He recently made headlines after Ice Cube responded to a fan who thought that Chris Tucker didn’t appear in the sequels due to “money issues”.
It all started when Faizon Love, the actor who played “Big Worm” in “Friday” revealed to Comedy Hype, that he was only paid $2500 for his role in the movie.
Rapper Ice Cube was then dragged on social media and accused of not paying his actors properly. Ice Cube replied that the actors were payed according to the work they did, and Love agreed with him, stating that there were no issues on his end and that in fact, he was very happy and grateful to be part of that picture and movie.
Ice Cube went on to tweet that “We were ready to pay Chris Tucker $10-12m to do “Next Friday” but he turned us down for religious reasons. He didn’t want to cuss or smoke weed on camera anymore.”
Here’s what Chris Tucker had to say.
“ I know Cube wanna do another because Cube of course is like, you know, he kind of created “fridays” and I was in the first one … I never thought about doing sequels. I always wanted to do a good job and keep moving to the next movie. I never really told people this because I kind of forgot about it, but it was one of the reasons why I didn’t do it because I said I don’t want to represent everybody smoking weed. I kind of made it more personal than a movie and that’s one of the reasons why I said nah I didn’t want to keep doing that character. And it probably was good for me because it kept me moving, you know, to the next phase and next movies but that was one of the reasons I said…”
Apparently, Tucker’s character, Smokey, didn’t appear in “Next Friday” or “Friday After The Next” due to his religious beliefs and what he wanted to stand for and represent.
