The Royalettes were formed in 1962 while still in high school in Baltimore, MD. The sisters, Sheila and Anita Ross, added their cousin, Veronica Brown and a friend, Terry Jones to form the Royalettes, named after the Royal Theater in Baltimore. The group's biggest success came while signed to the MGM label in New York. Their original version of, It's Gonna Take A Miracle, peaked at #28 on the Billboard chart, week ending 11/6/65. Several other moderate hits followed but nothing approached the success of It's Gonna Take A Miracle, which has been covered by numerous artists in the years since including Laura Nyro in 1971 and Deniece Williams in 1982.
