Purushottam Agrawal is a literary historian and fiction writer. His works include pathbreaking studies like Akath Kahani Prem Ki: Kabir ki Kavita aur Un ka Samay, Kabir, Kabir: The Life and work of Early Modern Poet Philosopher, Padmavat: An Epic Love Story, and Who is Bharat Mata, an exploration of Nehru’s ideas about India, its tradition, culture and history. Besides some short stories, he has to his credit a Hindi novel called NACOHUS, a Kafkaesque fantasy about politics of hurt sentiments, which is soon to appear in English translation. He is a British Academy Fellow at Wolfson College, University of Cambridge, and has served as professor at the Jawaharlal Nehru University, and as member of the Union Public Service Commission, India.
Vandana Shiva did her PhD on the ‘Hidden Variables and Non-locality in Quantum Theory’ from the University of Western Ontario, Canada, later shifting to interdisciplinary research in science, technology and environmental policy. She founded the Research Foundation for Science, Technology and Ecology in Dehra Dun, dedicated to addressing pressing ecological and social issues of our times, and Navdanya, a national movement to protect the diversity and integrity of living resources. Time Magazine recognised Shiva as an environmental “hero” in 2003 and Forbes magazine in November 2010 named her as one of the 'Top Seven Most Powerful Women on the Globe'. Shiva has received Honorary Doctorates from the University of Paris, the University of Western Ontario, the University of Oslo and Connecticut College and the University of Guelph. She is the recipient of the Alternative Nobel Prize, Order of the Golden Ark, Global 500 Award of the UN and Earth Day International Award.
Makarand R Paranjape is a long-standing Professor at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He also served as the Director of the Indian Institute of Advanced Study. A poet, critic, novelist, and columnist, he is the author of several books, including JNU: Nationalism and India’s Uncivil War (2022), Identity’s Last Secret (2022), and Swami Vivekananda: Hinduism and India’s Road to Modernity (2020). The 150th-anniversary edition of The Penguin Sri Aurobindo Reader, edited by him, is scheduled for release in 2023.
Pavan K Varma is a writer-diplomat and politician, and was till recently an MP in the Rajya Sabha, and earlier, Advisor to the Chief Minister of Bihar. Author of over a dozen best-selling books, including Ghalib: The Man, The Times; The Great Indian Middle Class; The Book of Krishna; Being Indian; Becoming Indian; and Chanakya’s New Manifesto, he has been Ambassador in several countries including Bhutan, Director of The Nehru Centre in London, Official Spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, Director General, ICCR, and Press Secretary to the President of India. His latest book is The Great Hindu Civilisation: Achievement, Neglect, Bias and the Way Forward.
Priyanka Chaturvedi is Rajya Sabha MP from Shiv Sena, Maharashtra. She is also Deputy Leader and National Spokesperson of the Shiv Sena. She is Member of Parliament Standing Committee of Commerce and Member of Consultative Committee on External Affairs. She is currently on the advisory board of Femme First Foundation, a woman advocacy group and also at the Kautilya School of Public Policy.
Vir Sanghvi became editor of Bombay magazine at twenty-two, making him the youngest editor in the history of Indian journalism. He went on to edit Imprint and Sunday, then India’s largest-selling weekly newsmagazine. He has been both Editor and Editorial Director of the Hindustan Times, and continued as columnist and advisor. His television career includes award-winning shows on the Star TV Network, NDTV and CNN TV 18. He also has a significant parallel career as India’s leading food and travel writer.
