After being nursed back to health, Maryanne, the 'miracle' koala has been released back home, to the wild 🐨💚
In early December 2019, Maryanne was found underweight, dehydrated, and suffering with burnt paws after a bushfire swept through the area.
After emergency treatment at the RSPCA Wildlife Hospital and 6 months in care with carers Peter Luker and Trudi Timbs, Maryanne’s wounds have healed, her missing claw has grown back, and her weight has more than doubled, going from 1.5 kg to a much healthier 3.5 kg.
WWF-Australia deployed emergency funds to RSPCA QLD, the leading wildlife care facility during the bushfires in Queensland to enable urgent treatment and ongoing care for the huge influx of injured wildlife, like Maryanne.
