10: Brazilian real
The personification of the Brazilian nation and its government, the Efgie da Repblica, is depicted on one side of the currency as a young woman with a Phrygian cap and a crown made of bay leaves.
The great egret, the jaguar, and the golden lion tamarin are just a few of the prominent animals seen on the reverse of the coin. The maned wolf is shown on Brazil's newest banknote, which was unveiled earlier in 2020.
9: Ugandan shilling
Over the past 50 years, the Ugandan shilling's design has undergone a great deal of alteration, with its banknotes routinely modified to reflect shifts in power. In May 2020, the most recent revision, new designs honouring Uganda's rich legacy were released.
The many denominations of the shilling bear designs from Ugandan mats, a map of the nation, the Nile River, and the Independence Monument of Uganda.
8: Malaysian ringgit
The Malaysian Ringgit is popular for looking at the future. The focus of its currency designs is Wawasan 2020, the concept advanced by Mahathir Mohamad, Malaysia's fourth and seventh Prime Minister. By 2020, Malaysia was supposed to be a developed, rich nation.
Six different ringgit denominations, each depicting a different industry or economic emblem, such as the Kuala Lumpur Tower, a Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777, or the Kelana Jaya rail line, reflect this goal.
7: Mexican Peso
In the late 18th century, all North American currencies were measured against the Mexican peso, which has a long history. In an apparent nod to this, the most recent series of peso banknotes features images of significant people and events from Mexican history as well as the various geographical regions of the nation.
The International Bank Note Society submitted the 500-peso bill for its coveted Bank Note of the Year Award in 2018. Even though Canada finally won.
6: South African Rand
In light of this, there are five different South African rand denominations, each of which depicts one of Africa's Big Five game animals: a rhinoceros, elephant, lion, buffalo, and leopard. The distinctive colours and design components on the banknotes, which are meant to represent various businesses, further set them apart.
5: Argentine Peso:
The Argentine peso's most recent banknote series, published between 2016 and 2018, contains birds, mammals, and natural sites as a reference to the nation's fauna and flora. The front of the bills in this series are vertical, while the reverse is horizontal.
It's also important to note that the 1,000 peso note from Argentina was a candidate for the 2017 Bank Note of the Year award from the International Bank Note Society.
4: Indian Rupees
Lavender, magenta, and brilliant blue are just a few of the vibrant denominations in the most recent series of Indian rupee banknotes. Each one includes a portrait of Mahatma Gandhi as well as significant cultural icons like the Sun Temple in India and the Mars Orbiter Mission of the Indian Space Research Organization.
3: Nigerian Naira
The novelty of having Priscilla Ekwere Eleje, the first female Director of Currency Operations at the Central Bank of Nigeria, sign the Nigerian naira makes it noteworthy. Only one other Nigerian banknote has ever included a woman: the 20-naira note, which features a portrait of famed potter Ladi Kwali.
2: Canadian dollars
The 2018 Bank Note of the Year award was given to Canada's 10-dollar bill by the International Bank Note Society.
The Canadian dollar, however, merits special consideration for both its material and visual design. Unlike many other nations, who have simply replaced one or a few denominations, the Bank of Canada totally transitioned from paper banknotes to synthetic polymer beginning in 2011. As a result of outlasting conventional paper currency, Canadian dollars are ultimately more environmentally beneficial.
1: Swiss Franc
Both Liechtenstein and Switzerland use the multi-award-winning Swiss franc as their official currency. Nobody can fault Liechtenstein for using the franc because of its sophisticated design.
The most recent series of franc banknotes, which depict hands making different movements, feels particularly artistic. For instance, the 10-franc note features two hands using a baton to keep time.
