From Hassan's savagery, to Ereshkigal's sacrifice, to Tiamat's first and last words, to the King of Heroes FINALLY taking a fight seriously and busting out Ea (and busting everyone's eardrums), this episode will go down as one of the most epic episodes in all of Fate -- not just Babylonia, not just FGO, but ALL of Fate. As far as negatives go, I have to say, Jaguar Warrior was the only one to not have a moment, which is a shame. However, given the brand spanking new scenes Cloverworks added, specifically with Hassan, Fujimaru/Gudao, and Tiamat, I am actually okay with Jaguar Warrior being shafted. Not to mention we still didn't get a new opening, but it is what it is.
As far as Enuma Elish's sound effect, did my eardrums rupture? Yes, but Ea is the Sword of Rupture, and you can't spell ear without Ea. In all seriousness, one can argue they went WAY too far with the audio. I, for one, am alright with it. 1, because I'm super biased, and 2, because the attack is meant to be the one of the most destructive Noble Phantasms in the series. So, in a weird way, having it sound like THAT makes sense so I appreciate the destructive nature of it. But hey, again, I'm biased as heck and thus will find anyway to justify every possible fault.
I realize this isn't the last episode; however, for all intents and purposes, it kind of is. Next episode will wrap things up and will be emotional for the reason it's ending. So, I'd like to say as a general review for the series that I had fun. Did it have some flaws here and there? Were some things cut out? Were certain episodes rushed or had weird pacing? Yes, but no anime is objectively perfect. That said, as a Fate fan, as a Babylonia fan, and as a Gilgamesh fan, this anime is perfect for my tastes. When it comes to anime or any kind of medium of entertainment, I go in asking for 1 thing -- was it entertaining? If the answer is "Yes" then why sweat the small stuff, you know? The ride was consistently fun from beginning to end. That's all there is to it.
