Recorded at 4865-A Cordell Ave, Suite 230, Bethesda, MD. 20706, www.ultdc.org. 301-656-3566. Presentation on the ethics of life propounded by Jesus not being a different from those found in theosophy. But theosophy doctrines hold a compelling power which is absent from modern Christianity, and from those systems which require one to be good for virtue's sake alone. We read the command of Jesus to turn the other cheek to the smiter, to forgive without limitation, and to take no thought for the morrow. Then, many pause to question whether this is really possible, thus indicating lack of understanding of the Laws of Karma and Reincarnation. These Laws, which were commonly known in the time of Jesus, have virtually been banished from western thought, only beginning to reappear in the 19th century as the lost chord of Christianity. When people become convinced that evil done in this life will be met with sure punishment in this or another incarnation, they hesitate to continue the old careless life when they lived for themselves in this life alone. Discussed reasons why practical theosophy must enter into every detail of life in our dealings with others and our discipline of ourselves. Discussed that Theosophical doctrines are both practicable and reasonable as well as just, and its doctrines are gradually driving out the time-worn beliefs of the theologian and the scientist, giving the people of coming centuries a wisdom-religion deeply-based and all-embracing. The practical theosophist will do well if he follows the advice of the Masters, to spread, explain, and illustrate the laws of Karma and Reincarnation so that these laws may enter into the lives of the people. Once understood, the laws of Karma and Reincarnation are seldom forgotten. The practicality of Theosophy continues to become evident only, as we study, think and apply its precepts to daily living. The three qualities spoken of in the Gita permeate our whole nature. All real sacrifice is motivated by the sattva quality. The quality of rajas is paramount everywhere. Discussion of overcoming associated problems, as well as warnings about blindly following rajasic leaders. Theosophy alone excludes no one's views or experiences, but lays down principles broad enough to reconcile all. Real searchers for truth have found that every step of the way has been indicated in the works of We need to note, not that we sometimes fail, but always why we fail. Misconceptions, like many others under which we all labour, is due to our "seeing" things upside-down, on this our so-called "waking" plane of perception. And while we have learned from earliest childhood to reverse automatically the images which come to us from the outside, and are reflected upside-down on the retina of our physical eye, we have yet to find out how to apply the same process to the pictures that come to us from the inside, and are reflected, as ideas, on the "retina" of our inner vision. The course is the same for all, the teacher is the same for all, the school is the same for all. Life is the school, the teacher is Karma. The Path is the Path of Truth. We constantly identify ourselves with our perceptions and with our instruments of perception, in other words with our lower nature, and try to reach up to the Higher Nature, whereas to take the position of the higher Self really means to act consciously, right here and right now, hat we really are, the KNOWER, without any attributes whatsoever. We then come to realize that we are the KNOWER of all Knowledge. That realization can only come through application. True Knowledge is Theosophy applied.
