Also known as Gagauz Sarap Yortusu, this wine festival takes place in Comrat, Moldova, the capital of Gagauzia. The event occurs every year on the first Sunday of the month. The history of the celebration derives from locals waiting to have their first sip of wine of the season until this festival.

Moldova is a country in Eastern Europe that was once part of the Soviet Union and is now applying for entering the European Union. Within the country are many forests, wineries, and rocky hills that draw in tourists for wine tasting and hiking. It is also a linguistically diverse country shared with many populations. While traveling around the country, you will hear Romanian, Russian, Gagauz, Turkish, Bulgarian, French, and English. Moldova is the least visited country and should be on the travel list for those looking for off the beaten path travel.
