Laura Biagiotti, born in Rome under the sign of Leo, is one of the biggest names in Italian fashion.

Since 1980 she has lived and worked in the Roman countryside, in the Castello Marco Simone: an 11th century national monument restored to its former glory after years of patient restoration work with her husband Gianni Cigna, who died prematurely in August 1996.

Laura Biagiotti's interest in fashion began in the 1960s when she followed in the footsteps of her mother Delia Soldaini Biagiotti, founder of an atelier.

Laura Biagiotti is known worldwide for the extraordinary quality of her fashion: the New York Times has called her "The Queen of Cashmere" - the Queen of Cashmere - for her love of this precious yarn that she has used since her first collection with a cultivated and different approach, evolving it into a fashion dimension that was previously unknown to her.

Laura Biagiotti is considered the Ambassador of Italian Fashion in the world, for having pioneered commercial and cultural relations with many foreign countries.

On 25 April 1988, a unique event in the history of fashion took place in Beijing: 30 Chinese models wore the most significant creations of Laura Biagiotti's career, making her the first Italian designer to show in China.

Almost one hundred and fifty dresses paid tribute to the raw materials produced in China for centuries: precious silks and cashmere.

On 5 February 1995, the legendary doors of the Kremlin's Grand Theatre opened wide: Laura Biagiotti was the first Italian fashion designer to walk the runway in Moscow, in the former headquarters of the PCUS.

With a fashion show, she united Italian fashion and culture with the great Russian nation in an ideal bridge.
