Something completely different but completely fulfilling- earlier this year we were invited up to the Orkney Islands, to tell the story of Hume Sweet Hume, Knitted textiles on the island of Westray. The warmth (amongst the rain and wind) of the community of Westray and the incredible scenery made filming this project completely worthwhile. Having heard so much about it from Mana Meadows Photography and Julie Hagan from Gogo Olive Westray, even with the weather, did not disappoint.
Going beyond 'fashion' to make something that lasts and carries an intrinsic value is something we should all consider when purchasing our clothing. Supporting 'fast-fashion' is almost on a par to lighting a match to the Amazon. Think about your next purchase. Do you know who made your jersey? It's small textile companies like Hume Sweet Hume, Knitted textiles that make the difference in the world of disposable fashion.
