Secretary of State for Work and Pensions Mel Stride defended the Conservatives' record over the last 14 years, saying the party has "achieved a great deal," before using the response to the pandemic, reducing the rate of inflation and bringing taxes down as examples of the party's success.
"It's absolutely right that we make it clear what the alternative is," said the Tory minister as he warned about the possibility of Labour raising taxes.
"Think about having a party in there that is going to be able to oppose some of the things this government does when the shine has worn off in six months," he said.
