Warning: This video contains violent footage. On the anniversary of President Obama signing the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act, we remember those we lost to brutal hate attacks.
This important law expanded the definition of hate crimes to include crimes motivated by a victim's actual or perceived gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability. But the work didn't end there.
Today, too many hate crimes go uncounted, like those committed against Khalid Jabara and Heather Heyer. In order to stop hate crimes, we must learn more about them with data. It is imperative that Congress passes the Khalid Jabara and Heather Heyer NO HATE Act to ensure hate crimes are counted and STOPPED. Because all people deserve to live free from hate.
All People Deserve to Live Free From Hate
