Cover crops are typically grown to help improve or maintain soil fertility. These crops can improve the soil by adding nitrogen and organic matter, reduce crusting or impaction and thereby increase the infiltration of rain and irrigation water. These crops can also reduce erosion, the reduction of mineral run off, the suppression of plant pathogens, the reduction of weeds, and provide a habitat for beneficial insects. In this video we will go over various cover crops and how to best utilize them.
