I get this question all the time now…why use the Octane render plugin for Unreal Engine when there's Lumen and the in-built Pathtracer too. There's no simple answer so I thought I would do a rundown of the pros and cons of each.
I'm going to break these down into four categories… Quality, Speed, Accuracy and Compatibility. I'll be using the 1hour unreal engine scene I put together on the last video as an example and have rendered it with lumen, pathtracer and octane so we can see the results.
