Two days of living in the forests saved from the ice age Caspian.
Hyrcanian Mixed Forests is a biome in the broadleaf mixed forests ecosystem of the southern edge of the Mazandaran Sea and the northern edge of Alborz with an area of 55,000 square kilometers. (7% of the area of Iran) which is located on the southern and southwestern banks of the Caspian Lake in parts of the 5 northern provinces of Iran and is in the two countries of Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan. Unfortunately, this vegetation covers an area of 55,000 square kilometers, 51% of which has become extinct so far, and only 10.3% of it is protected. Currently, the Hyrcanian forests are home to 296 species of birds and 98 species of mammals. Also, 150 indigenous trees and shrubs (such as boxwood and angelica) are also found there. This forest is 25 to 50 million years old (Paleogene period) and is considered one of the most valuable forests in the world and is known as a natural museum. At that time, most of the northern temperate regions of the globe were covered by such forests. During the Ice Age, the Quaternary, these forests became smaller, but they reappeared at the end of the Ice Age.
My goal in creating this pictorial travelogue is to draw attention to protect these forests and show its enchanting beauty, as well as warn about the state of this national and world natural heritage.

دو روز زندگی در جنگل های نجات یافته از عصر یخبندان
جنگل‌های مختلط کاسپی هیرکانی یک زیست‌منطقه در زیست‌بوم جنگل‌های مختلطِ پهن‌برگِ حاشیهٔ جنوبی دریای مازندران و کناره شمالی البرز به مساحت ۵۵٬۰۰۰ کیلومتر مربع
(۷٪ مساحت ایران) است که در کنارهٔ جنوبی و جنوب باختری دریاچه کاسپین در بخش‌هایی از ۵ استان شمالی ایران قرار گرفته و در دو کشورِ ایران و جمهوری آذربایجان است.
متاسفانه در حالی این پوشش گیاهی ۵۵۰۰۰ کیلومتر مربع مساحت دارد که ۵۱% آن تاکنون منقرض شده و تنها از ۱۰.۳% آن حفاظت صورت می گیرد.
در حال حاضر جنگل‌های هیرکانی زیست بوم ۲۹۶ گونه پرنده و ۹۸ گونه پستاندار هستند. همچنین ۱۵۰ گیاه بومی درختی و بوته‌ای (مانند شمشاد و انجیلی) نیز در آن یافت می شوند.
این جنگل با قدمت ۲۵ تا ۵۰ میلیون سال (دوره پالئوژن) یکی از ارزشمندترین جنگل‌های جهان به‌شمار می‌آید و از آن به عنوان موزه طبیعی یاد می‌شود.
در آن زمان بیشتر مناطق معتدل شمالی کره زمین را اینگونه جنگل‌ها پوشانده بودند. در عصر یخبندان، کواترنری این جنگل‌ها کوچکتر شدند اما با پایان عصر یخبندان دوباره گسترش یافتند.
