When I was in medical school, I could study for 10 hours a day, every day, for months on end without breaking a sweat. When I try to do that now, I get to four days (maybe) and then have to catch my breath on the fifth. This got me thinking, what's so different now compared to back then?
It wasn't until I started tracking my blood glucose that I realized what 25-year old Kevin's secret was. Being productive for long periods of time requires more than just motivation, drive, and effort - a big part of it comes down to your body's chemistry and physiology.
There were a lot of things I didn't realize I was doing well during medical school that I don't do now, so it's time to turn back the clock and learn a thing or two from my 25-year old self.
