The Musée Carnavalet (Carnavalet Museum) in Paris is dedicated to the history of the city of Paris. The museum occupies two neighboring mansions: the Hôtel Carnavalet and the former Hôtel Le Peletier de Saint Fargeau.
The building, a historic monument from the 16th century, contains furnished rooms from different periods of Paris history, historic objects, and a very large collection of paintings of Paris life.
The permanent collections are free of charge and can be accessed without booking.
The museum is open from 10 am to 6 pm from Tuesday to Sunday.
The ticket office closes at 5:15 pm and the sales counters at 5:55 pm.
The exhibition rooms close at 5:45 pm.
The museum is closed on 1 January, 1 May and 25 December.
