It seems to me that Robert Doisneau is currently somewhat overlooked in the hallowed halls of the all-time great photographers. For surely he is at the very top of those particular pops, equal of many and bettered by none. His work shows all the decisiveness of Henri Cartier Bresson and the humour of Elliott Erwitt. I love to think of his life in Paris, where he knew Kertesz, HCB and Man Ray. I love to think of him pottering around with his camera making such wonderful photographs in a city I've never visited. Truth be told, I've been waiting for someone special enough to take the trip there with. One day?
Saul Part 2 will maybe follow at some point, I needed to make this review to get back in to the swing of things.
If you liked this content and would like to support further episodes you can buy me a coffee, or even a book. Thanks :) (Especially if there's a book you want me to feature.)
