Over a hundred people marched over the Brooklyn Bridge on Monday to protest New York's municipal worker vaccination mandate.
The city's municipal workforce are required to be vaccinated by Friday or face termination.
The rally was not all unvaccinated workers, some vaccinated New Yorkers showed up to support the protestors.
John Mooney, a vaccinated municipal employee, stood before the crowd and ripped his vaccination card in half.
"I'm fully vaccinated, I'm boosting, I even had cancer three years ago, chemotherapy, surgery, everything. I'm fully vaccinated, but I don't want to be segregated from the unvaccinated. There should be no mandates. Workers should not be fired. Union members have to stick together. Unity, not separation. That's why I came here today with my vaccination card, I held it up and I ripped it up," said Mooney.
While the mandate was first proposed by former Bill de Blasio, new mayor Eric Adams has continued to support the mandate.
