Here is an interesting scene from our Srinivasa Kalyanam dance drama staged under the auspices of Sri Thyaga Brahma Gana Sabha in their Iyal Isai Nataka Vizha on March 07, 2021.
The scene depicting Srinivasa's 'viraham' (pining in love for His beloved) is a narrative presentation in SDN's Srinivasa Kalyanam (2018). This beautiful song follows the scene in which Padmavati meets Srinivasa.
While being attacked by the god of Love with flower arrows, Srinivasa is seen deeply suffering the separation of His lady love, Padmavati.
The aesthetically penned lyrics set in ragam Sutradhari, demanded a special and unique choreography.
Therefore the scene is presented as Srinivasa yearning quietly in solitude where His mind voice singing the song of longing is heard at the background for which the god of Love, who shoots flowers arrows at Srinivasa, dances romantically in duo with his consort, Rati Devi.
Dancers:
Srinivasan - Bhairavi Venkatesan
Kamadevan - Mrinalini Sivakumar
Rati Devi - Harinipriya
SDN's Srinivasa Kalyanam is an interesting drama drama production in the world of Bharathanatyam that elaborately unfolds the authentic story of the wedding of the Lord of Thriupathi Hills. Sridevi Nrithyalaya, prostrating at the lotus feet of Lord Venkateswara and with prayers to the feet of Mahaguru Vempati Chinna Satyam, has taken up this effort as a "Tapasya" to dedicate this devotional production to all the devotees of the Lord. Srinivasa Kalyanam is SDN's 17th dance drama production for which thorough research and study about the subject has been done...
