Somerville Porchfest 2019
A Folk-tastic Porchfest! Noble Dust // Hawthorn // Sibylline
Hosted by Noble Dust featuring Hawthorn Music and Sibylline
The most wonderful day of the year approaches! Don your finest hula hoop and come hang with the best folk acts this side of Central Street. There will be snacks.
Noble Dust - “There is beauty in the power of all aspects of the band’s music, but it’s balanced by just how damn fun it is” - Red Line Roots. A motley collection of reformed band geeks, Noble Dust fills festivals and tiny living rooms alike with their dynamic, lyrically-driven progressive folk pop. Their thoughtfully-crafted backdrops, ethereal vocal harmonies, and intricate horn melodies culminate to create a sound that is at the same time otherworldly and familiar. The group released their eponymous debut EP in December of 2015 and has since shared the stage with Dietrich Strause & Zachariah Hickman, Adam Ezra Group, and Session Americana. Noble Dust received a grant from Club Passim's Iguana Music Fund to complete their first full length album, And The Tide Rises released in April 2018. www.nobledustmusic.com
Hawthorn Music - The women of Hawthorn craft songs with “a weight that sits with you long after their audible presence fades” (Red Line Roots). Working from the belief that tradition is made to evolve, Heather and Taylor chart a creative course through Appalachian and Celtic roots to the present-day. With a powerful vocal blend surrounded in old-time banjo, seascape guitar, and dreamy electric lines, Hawthorn is quickly claiming a place in the music of New England and beyond. Their second album, Maggie Willow, lands in February 2019. www.themusicofhawthorn.com
Sibylline - Sibylline bends words, and invent melodies heavy with truth and bleeding joy.
— Nate Eldridge, NewsCenterMaine 207. It was Music that brought Megan Martelle and Hannah Daman together one night in 2013 in a basement in Massachusetts. Megan had just finished her time at Berklee College of Music. Hannah had just moved home from playing in a few bands in Glasgow, Scotland. Megan had her violin. Hannah had her songs. A musical connection was swiftly forged and from there on, they stuck together. Whether near or far, throughout the next few years, whenever they were together, they played. www.sibyllinetheband.com
