Vocal onset is the way how you begin the sound. It determines the quality and comfort of the sound through it's whole duration.
When you begin with a specific onset you can't change it into another one while making the very same sound until you will take next breath which is a moment for us to improve the setting of our voice.
This is why the topic of onsets is so important. We can use lesser energy and get much better quality and comfort of our vocals. We just have to learn how.
We have 3 types of onsets:
1. Aspirated (breathy) onset
2. Hard onset (glottal attack)
3. Coordinated onset
Which one is the best for your voice and how can you use them to improve your screams and growls?
Those and more answers in the video!
P.S. The breathy onset makes us often to sing below the proper note and the hard onset often brings us above the correct note.
