Giant Dirigible Sets Record - This is a short film of the Hindenburg's first transatlantic flight to Lakehurst NJ. The events in this film were not of Hindenburg’s maiden voyage. This film depicts Hindenburg’s first transatlantic flight to the United States which terminated at Lakehurst, New Jersey on May 9, 1936. Also shown are clips of the Hindenburg being positioned on the ground before being moved into Hanger One at Lakehurst for brief storage. (The Hindenburg left Lakehurst for a return trip to Frankfurt, Germany on May 12th.)
There is a short speech in the film from Hugo Eckener, the chairman of the Zeppelin Company. And finally, there are clips of the Hindenburg safely tucked away inside Hanger One before its journey back to Germany on May 12th.
