A Super Sharpener
I suppose everybody gets slightly different results based on exactly what type and brand of knives you are sharpening and how good you are as a knife shapener. I sharpen mostly plain edge tactical and hunting knives. Over the years I have used many of the the more expensive sharpening kits with so/so results. For a long time I sharpened with Arkansas stones. All of these methods did sharpen but it took more time than I wanted to spend. I received this Twin Sharpener a couple of weeks back and sharpened 4-5 tactical knives with blades running between 3-5 inches long. Most of the blades are stainless. On all the blades, I took about 12 swipes thru the number 1 course slot and then another 30-40 swipes thru the number 2 fine slot. Don't use heavy pressure... Let the blade glide thru. In all cases you can feel the edge getting sharper with less drag as you pull it thru the slots. Finally, on the fine slot, the blade will glide with no resistance and no grinding sound. Now slice it thru paper and you will see a very very sharp knife. I don't know if it is 'scary sharp' but it is extremely sharp... like in 'Be Careful Sharp'. I would imagine that a lot of people who love to sharpen knives won't like any kind of sharpener if it isn't a sharpening stone or steel rod. I say 'Have at it'. Personally I like a sharp knife but would rather be using it rather than spending time sharpening it. I don't know how long it will take for this sharpener to wear out as some less expensive ceramic rods/bars wear pretty quickly. But as of right now, I highly recommend this sharpener.
