After the birth of her daughter, composer Loretta K. Notareschi was overwhelmed by fear and soon diagnosed with Postpartum OCD. In this courageous talk, Loretta shares her story of overcoming mental illness. Sarah Whitnah, Leslie Sawyer, Donald Schumacher, and Richard vonFoerster of The Playground Ensemble perform two movements of her composition, “String Quartet OCD.”
Loretta is an award-winning composer whose music celebrates the human condition. Her 2016 EP with The Playground Ensemble, String Quartet OCD, is used to educate maternal mental health experts. Loretta is an associate professor of music at Regis University and a summer faculty member of The Walden School.
