LSU lands transfer DT Jay'Viar Suggs
The LSU football staff’s pursuit of defensive tackles in the NCAA Transfer Portal has provided another addition to the roster ahead of the 2024 season.
Grand Valley State defensive tackle Jay’Viar Suggs emerged as a new target for LSU’s staff one week ago, and he pushed back his planned announcement to make one final visit.
After spending Sunday until Tuesday in Baton Rouge, Suggs committed to the Tigers as the second defensive tackle addition this spring.
Wisconsin’s Gio Paez is already committed to the LSU staff as a defensive tackle who arrives on campus this summer, Suggs brings another body to a potential 4-5 man rotation on the interior for the Tigers this fall.
LSU adds transfer defensive tackle Jay'viar Suggs
LSU has made its first big splash of the 2024 spring portal window, adding defensive tackle Jay'viar Suggs to its transfer class.
The addition of Suggs gives the purple and gold eight total players, two of which are on the interior defensive line including Suggs and Wisconsin tackle Gio Paez. The Tigers are now up to 82 scholarships, leaving space for as many as three more players.
Dabo Swinney on not signing any transfers: 'Every player is technically a transfer'
Dabo Swinney doubled down on Clemson not signing any transfers once again. Well, they did in a technical sense according to the Tigers’ coach.
Clemson was the only non-service academy to not take any transfers among college football programs. For a national title winning program, it is bizarre in this day and age.

With 2024 season hanging in the balance, LSU knows what's required
Anybody can coach a team when it's top five in the country, is performing at a high level week in and week out and basically all sunshine with little rain.
But it's when teams are in tumultuous, adverse times that make coaching more important than ever. That is what LSU coach Jay Johnson was asked very early in his press conference as the Tigers prepare to host Ole Miss in a must win series to keep their postseason hopes within reach.
The Tigers have won three of their last four SEC series and have been playing better as a whole over the last month of the SEC schedule. But the fact remains that this team dug itself into a very steep hole which is why many of these games recently have had a postseason feel.
