Indonesia's high-speed railway has cost a joint Chinese-Indonesian venture more than US$7 billion to build. It was built by PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC), which is made up of four Indonesian state companies and Beijing's China Railway International. There needs to be a long-term plan and incentives in order to shift public behaviour and get more people to take the bullet train going forward, Dr Siwage Dharma Negara, senior fellow and co-coordinator of the Indonesia Studies programme at the ISEAS-Yusof Ishak Institute, tells CNA’s Asia Now.
