Community Manager Andrea O'Meara of the Seattle based Crosscut Festival - Episode 3: Make Your Event Better, Don't Just Make It Happen
Andrea O'Meara, the Community Engagement Manager at KCTS 9 & Crosscut has been working on the Crosscut Festival since its start three years ago. She described the Seattle based event as a "news and ideas festival", taking inspiration from the Texas Tribune Festival.
But Crosscut has its own twist. We wanted to make it "a more festival feel than a conference." Crosscut's ultimate goal she said, "We're looking to spark ideas and spark conversations."
We talked about the importance of team debriefs, how getting that first keynote can be a stepping stone for both programming and marketing, and how it feels to be preparing for the third year of their event.
