Asides from watching Alabasta and Skypiea when they aired on Toonami back when I was a kid, and One Piece: Stampede in theaters, this is actually the first time I’ve watched the dubbed version of One Piece. I’ve been watching the subbed version since Water 7 and I’ve become incredibly accustomed to the Japanese voices, and as much as I love the original voices, I’m not fluent in Japanese so no matter how hard I might have tried, there was no way that I was going to be able to accurately use any Japanese dialogue in a video edit without serious assistance. That being said, Marineford was a top five arc in One Piece for a lot of reasons–tons of strong individuals came together to save a significant character, it was one of the first times Luffy was on his own without his crew, it was the first major war of the series, and its conclusion marked the end of an era in the One Piece world and story. I could go on about Marineford’s importance in the One Piece world, but I’ll stop rambling and just let you watch my edit instead–enjoy!
