With a name like Lettuce and Mayonnaise Sandwich, you might think this to be a pretty straightforward affair. And it is although there is one more additional ingredient for some reason. But let’s be honest, today, I start off with a bare bones egg salad sandwich and end up with a slightly less bare bones egg salad sandwich. Still, I don’t hate it by any stretch. As always, I make the recipe as written and avoid adding animal protein as it tends to steal the show when used as a plus up vegetarian sandwiches. But yeah, bacon would be an awesome plus up. Oh, this recipe is courtesy of Mrs. Seely’s Cook Book with Chapters on Domestic Servants Their Rights & Duties published in 1902. Good times.
