If you've made any number of wines, you will eventually encounter the dreaded rotten egg smell. Rest assured, that it is something that can be solved but the best solution is to prevent it all together. In the event that you still encounter this though please watch this video thoroughly! In this video I will cover basic prevention and the actions to take when solving the problem. Prevention includes adequate yeast nutrient, proper acid balance, proper fermentation temperature and some air exposure during initial fermentation. Solving it sometime just requires nutrient addition but can also require further action like splash racking or addition of a minuscule amount of copper sulfate.
