Jacques Favino Modele "Enrico Macias" #588
1977 Jacques Favino Modele "Enrico Macias”
The rare and inimitable “Enrico Macias” model:
Since Matelo Ferre began his long relationship with the Favino family; a multitude of guitarists of all styles would walk into the Favino workshop. Musicians ranging from Boulou Ferre, Hugues Aufray, George Brassens and Joan Baez all played Favino guitars during their lifetime. When French-Algerian singer-songwriter Enrico Macias made a request for custom features; the "Modele Enrico Macias" was concieved. Two distinct features made the Macias unlike any other Favino: Maple back and sides, and large Nacrolaque fingerboard inlays. Gino Papiri who worked in the shop and relative of Jacques Favino was one of the first to build highly decorated guitars using this new MOP imitation material during the early 1930’s.
This pristine example is near close to mint. Warm and lush mid range with an astounding bass response make this guitar versatile in many styles. Red cedar top, maple back and sides, classic 5 piece maple neck. All original hardware is intact. Original early SB machines with original Galalith buttons. At some point in its life a Big-Tone system was installed by R.F Charle in Paris. Guitar comes with a big-tone system as well as an original non pickup equipped bridge. Supplied with Hiscox flight case.
