The best part of vacations with the family wasn't just about the destination (or the many museums our history buff mum would cram into a trip!). It was also about the journey. With an RXC43 Panasonic boombox in tow, any stopover was an excuse for an FM radio band scan, for The Selector. From the East Coast to the West Coast, and Canada, it was an exciting aural adventure hearing and recording music and remixes that had yet to be aired on radio stations at home. That's what W.M.A.C.'s Living Diary℠ was always been about, in the analog era. It wasn't just about telling, "live" on tape, what we were doing during our vacation, but, bringing back the newest music first, if possible. That was part of the fun of traveling. We were on our way back home from New Orleans, LA, with a stopover at the Newark Liberty International Airport, NJ, around 10PM. What better time than that to check out New York City radio. The audio in this video is the result. Radio reception was variable, while seated in the terminal, even more so when we were walking to the gate, then in the gangway, and finally finding our seat on the plane. While all of that was going on, MC/DJ Selector was still monitoring the recording, and no one was the wiser! That's how she rolls! We hope you enjoy this video for the awesome mix, along with trivia about The Palladium Nightclub NYC, USA, and some New Orleans trip photos, too. Unfortunately, we don’t know who the DJ was, but, check out the song list, below.
Here is a link to a great article on ArchDaily, about the history of The Palladium, and beautiful photos by Timothy Hursley:
