As of July 1, Croatia has officially joined the EU and become the 28th member of the bloc.
The newest EU member has gone through a tough process that demanded reforms on human rights and stamping out corruption to achieve this goal.
The development was celebrated on the streets across the country, while some expressed that their hard won independence was under threat.
