The huge demand and fast development of tourism has lead to a universal issue: The authenticity of local cultures; travel experiences; documentation and mementos of memories is being lost. With the development of technology it is possible to move from a collective experience of a place and turn it into something more personal. Unlike traditional stereotypes, which perhaps act more as a second hand memory, the aim of this project is to use the opportunity of travel to create a personal and private souvenir for tourists by using technology to tie together people's experiences with their documentation of it. In order to create a connection to the place, the experience and the user, Gramaphoto and Seedpost service offer the option of creating an evocative souvenir by using multiple senses; going beyond the documentation of a place or event by also capturing their surrounding atmosphere. What this project creates is a more authentic personal representation of the users travel experience, to create a metaphorical memory of a place rather than iconic and stereotypical impression of a place and to balance both physical interaction and the convenience of technology.
