Ava DuVernay directed 2015 Best Picture Oscar nominee “Selma” and won a Best Director award at the Sundance Film Festival for “Middle of Nowhere.” She tells TODAY about “Queen Sugar,” the new Oprah Winfrey Network drama she co-created with Oprah, about two sisters and a Louisiana sugarcane farm in the heart of Louisiana. She also shares a glimpse of Tamron Hall interning for a day on the set, and comments on the Barbie doll modeled after her.
