During his tenure as Chief Conductor of the BBC Symphony, Leonard Slatkin devoted the second half of one of his 2003 Proms concerts to a selection of numbers from Prokofiev's ballet 'Romeo and Juliet.' The fast and furious music heard here depicts the swordfight that leads to Tybalt's dramatic death as Romeo avenges the killing of his friend Mercutio.
