I built an autopilot system for RC planes that uses computer vision. The plane is able to maintain level flight and execute controlled turns using only input from the camera and no other standard aviation sensors such as a gyroscope, GPS, altimeter, air speed indicator, etc.
Future versions of the program will be able to execute waypoint missions and track objects.
