Clayton: Hey everybody, how's it going Clayton here at etrailer.com. And today we are going to be taking a look at the Mechanics Tool Set by Performance Tool. This is going to be the 134 piece set. Now this is going to cover a wide variety of sockets. We are going to have two different size drives. We're also going to have some Allen heads and star bits.
There's a good variety of things to look at in this kit.Now we do want to take a look at the actual sockets. We are going to have standard and metric. So that's going to be really nice. We're also going have standard and metric both in three eighths drive and quarter inch drive. We're going to start off by taking a look at our three eighths drive ratchet. And this is a really nice ratchet.
You got left and right. It does have the button release for your sockets. Now this ratchet does have 72 teeth and personally I do prefer a 90 tooth ratchet or something like that. But this ratchet in particular is going to be good enough to get the job done. Our quarter drive ratchet is going to offer us the same features as the three eighths drive. And particularly in this set, there is a lot more pieces towards the quarter inch drive. And taking a closer look at the quarter inch drive accessories.
We are going to have a couple of different extensions. Now this is just a standard extension. The kit also comes with the same thing for three eighths drive. Now this just looks like your normal screwdriver, except it has a quarter inch drive on the end. And our kit is going to come with an adapter that we simply put onto here, and we can use all of our screwdriver bits and anything like that on here.
But one really cool feature about this piece in particular is it does serve as an extension as well. So we can put that on there. Then put our quarter inch drive ratchet and use this as a second extension. We're going to take a closer look at our sockets now. All of our sockets are going to be six point. Our sizes are going to range from seven eighths and three eighths drive, all the way down to four millimeter in our quarter inch drive inaudible 00:01:51 . This is also going to offer us a mixture of deep well sockets as well. So it would be able to get some of those longer bolts or anything like that, that are short well sockets are not going to be able to get.One thing that I really like about this kit is all the different bits that they are going to include. We have our Allen heads, our star bits, our square bits, our Torx bits, regular Phillips, we have some more Allens up here along with some flat bladed screwdriver bits and a core instruct bit as well. So we're really going to be able to work on a lot of different things with this kit.Another feature that I really like, is it does come with a standard set and metric set of Allen keys. So if you're putting together furniture from a big box store or anything like that, you'll definitely be able to get that job done. And then even having our bits as well to work with our screwdriver is going to be huge, cause we can get a little bit more torque on them. So let's say we're out on the trail. We have a little flat or anything we need to fix on our bike, or maybe we just need to take our wheel off to get it back on the bike rack. We can grab our three eighths socket and wrench with a 15 millimeter socket , then take our front wheel off or make any necessary repairs. You just get that broke loose on each side. Then we can and take our wheel off or put it back on or make any adjustments, then come back and tighten everything down. But now I want to remove the bump stops on our rear hatch. These are going to be located right her, to do so we're going to need a three millimeter Allen key. We're just going to slide that in there, like so, and then carefully turn it. You don't want to give too much pressure, cause this is just threaded into plastic. So that's the light pressure. We can just get this removed. We can then pull out our set screw. We're just going to take our stop and kind of turn it by hand. Like so, they'll turn about 90 degrees to the left and then we just want to pull it out. Repeat that same process on the other side. Now I want to grab our 15 millimeter socket and break loose. The bolts securing our bumper beam.A feature that I really do like in this kit that you're not going to see in a lot of other entry-level kits is going to be a spark plug socket. This is a five eighth inch spark plug socket that wheneve
