"I think pointing out that women are the solution as Half the Sky has done is crucial because the way that any group is kept in its place is to say there is something wrong with them, they are the problem, they are not smart enough, they are not brave enough, they must actually like this abuse, somehow they've chosen it, you know, so to get out of that blaming the victim and internalizing the blame within the victim, so that even the victim actually believes it, and beginning to see, 'Wait a minute,' you know, 'I am not a victim, I have something to offer, I am the solution,' is life-saving."
