To use your smartphone as a remote control, you have two scenarios:
A - If you have a smart TV Box or smart TV or any other Tv device that connects to Wi-Fi, make sure both your TV and phone are connected to the same Wi-Fi connection.

B - If you have a non smart TV or device that doesn't connect to Wi-Fi, you absolutely need a built-in infrared IR Blaster in your phone to be able to use your phone as a remote control. This is how to check if your phone has one: [ Ссылка ]

The phone used in this video is a Samsung S6 with a built-in IR Blaster. This phone can be used with both Smart and Non Smart devices.
