The HLA loci encode several genes of medical importance for the human immune system and tissue acceptance or rejection in organ transplantation. The genes are highly variable and repeated which has hindered the full characterisation of these loci with other technologies. The Oxford Nanopore Technologies' reads with their much longer read length present a possible solution, potentially able to read complete gene coding sequences. Here we report using the results of sequencing HLA loci from different individuals using multiple barcode indexed long PCR products.
