With the spike in Covid-19 cases, hospitals in Uttar Pradesh claimed they are facing an acute shortage of beds and medical oxygen supply. However, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has refuted these claims, saying there is no shortage of beds or oxygen supply in the state. The Centre has projected that Uttar Pradesh is slated to report more than 1.9 lakh cases every day by the end of April. The ongoing deadly surge in the Covid-19 cases is expected to peak in mid-May, with the daily case count likely to reach five lakh, and may subside by June-July. The daily shortage of isolation beds in Uttar Pradesh has been projected at around 16,752.
