If you have got diagnosed pelvic organ prolapse, or if you are experiencing leaking or lack of sphincter control with increased abdominal pressure (from coughing/sneezing/laughing/running/jumping), then, you need to stop and take a step back. Leaking or a heavy full feeling in the vagina are red flags for organs prolapsing into and eventually out of the vagina.
Tena pads may be a bridge to use while you are strengthening your pelvic floor muscles, but they are not a solution in themselves!
Part of your pelvic wellbeing programme may be: using a fitted pessary, using topical body identical estriol cream to plump up muscle fibres, and of course, pelvic floor muscle training - which means both being able to achieve full relaxation and lengthening of muscles as well as good even contraction and lift.
In my Posture & Pelvic Core Restore programme I talk about all of the above and take you through my own specialised exercises and breath work that I've gathered and developed over the past 12 years of working in women's health. I work closely with pelvic floor physiotherapists and women's wellbeing experts that can help you achieve your goals. You're not alone, so seek the help you need to help yourself. There are well trained women out there who know exactly how you feel and who can help you!!!
First things first. If you have any kind of pelvic floor or core dysfunction - pain, heaviness, sore lower back, leaking, urgency, fecal incontinence, just know that these issues are way more common than you might imagine, but they are not 'normal' for the female body. Acceptance is the key ingredient to change (in yoga, known as 'santosha')
