Imagine savings on Autopilot, where you don't have to constantly remind yourself to save, where you don't have to manually transfer a certain amount to your savings account. How great would that be?
Well, here's how you can automate your savings.
Why automate?
Because automation is so much easier than manual work! You don't have to rely on your willpower or memory to save, automation just do the work for you.
Savings can take a certain willpower to do it. Some months you have high willpower to save, and you will save more, but sometimes you don't have that. Then what? Save less.. This makes your savings inconsistent because you are relying on your feelings to do it. So instead, you should let the computer system do the work.
Pre-requisite:
1. Know how much you want to save per month
2. Have a Savings Account
Step:
1. Identify Your Payday Schedule and Frequency.
This means knowing which day of the month/week are you receiving your payday, and at what frequency (monthly/fortnightly)
2. Schedule Automatic Transfer
Your bank should probably have an automatic transfer feature from Mobile app or Web. Schedule the transfer 1 day after your payday at the same frequency as your pay. ( E.g. My payday schedule is every Tuesday Fortnight, I will schedule the transfer on Wednesday at a fortnightly basis). The amount of transfer is according to how much of your salary do you want to save.
3. Watch Your Money Flow
Sit back, relax, and just watch how your money flow every fortnight/monthly. Now you don't have to remind yourself to save every month or so. The system will just do the work, and the next time you open your savings account, you will be amazed by how much you would have saved.
