Back in January of 2015 I was tying sculpin patterns in various common sculpin colors. Luke McKee, who works in the shop with me suggested I tie one up in a chartreuse color. I did and by March it was proving itself very well on smallmouth bass on the Okanogan River. We have used this streamer pattern not only in the Okanogan river but also on our local bass and warm water lakes in the area.
To give credit where credit is due. I first saw the technique of twisting the hackle and polar chenille in a video that Clark Pierce used when he was tying up his Complex Twist Bugger. The nice thing about this sculpin pattern that I tied up is that it swims and jigs up and down on the bottom of the water it is being fished in. With the hook tied in a jig style, i.e. hook up, you are less apt to snag up on the bottom. Not only can you tie it in the chartreus color, but it can be tied in a variety of other colors too."
