This was a satisfying and quick flip. Dresser is already sold ($300) and the new owner is really happy with it.
We started with a pretty common and boring looking piece that had absolutely crazy amount of hardware. 4 Handles per drawer?
Luckily it was another solid wood dresser, so we went for our foolproof paint and stain combo.
Color aga decided to use is simply Ultra Pure White by Behr, Stain choice was a bit more difficult, so Aga tested 3 stains on the back of the dresser to find the right one. Between Western Oak, Red Chestnut, and Jacobean the latter was a winner. We bought it at Walmart in clearance section for less than $3 and never got around to using it. We are so glad we did because the result was amazing! It is a dark, semi-transparent stain that created almost a burned wood look while still allowing the natural wood grain to shine.
To complement this, we created a full DIY custom base and stained it the same color. This time we decided to make it a bit taller since the dresser was rather large and we wanted to lift it as much as we could.
We didn’t want to clutter it again with all the handles, so we decided to fabricate smaller ones ourselves. We cut the ones we had on hand in half, filled the end with Bondo and sanded them down to a shape.
This whole piece came together extremely well. We both love how it turned out and we are not surprised it sold so quick.
