These terrestrial geckoes are roughly 5-10cm long. Iconic for their large eyes and their stumpy tail with a distinct knob at the end.
Found in a wide range of arid and semi-arid habitats,
from open woodland and arid scrubs to spinifex-covered desert
sandplains and dunefields. A nocturnal, terrestrial lizard which
apparently lives during the day in burrows which it either excavates
itself or which have been made previously by insects, other lizards
or small mammals. Forages at night in open areas.
The smooth knob-tailed Gecko is considered to be an insectivore, preying on spiders, grasshoppers, beetles, cockroaches, scorpions, centipedes and even on other smaller geckos.
